The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) - Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE) is a flagship scheme launched by the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India. What is this scheme?

The INSPIRE SHE is a component of the broader INSPIRE program. It provides 10,000 scholarships annually to exceptionally bright students in the age group of 17–22 years. The scheme supports students enrolled in B.Sc., B.S., and M.Sc. or integrated M.S./M.Sc. programs in various natural and basic sciences.

Who is eligible?

• Must be between 17 and 22 years of age.
• Must be among the top 1% meritorious students in Class 12 board examinations (State or Central boards).
• Must be pursuing a degree in Natural or Basic Sciences at the B.Sc., B.S., or Integrated M.Sc./M.S. level.
• Students who have secured ranks in JEE (Main & Advanced) or NEET (Top 10,000) and are pursuing basic sciences are eligible.
• KVPY, NTSE, JBNSTS scholars and International Olympiad medalists pursuing basic science degrees are eligible.

The total scholarship value is ₹80,000 per annum. This consists of a monthly stipend of ₹5,000 (totaling ₹60,000/year) and a specialized summertime mentorship grant of ₹20,000 per annum for research projects.
