MSME ZED Certification Scheme: How to Claim Subsidy and Improve Manufacturing Quality

The Zero Defect Zero Effect (ZED) certification is a flagship initiative by the Ministry of MSME to enhance the global competitiveness of Indian manufacturers. What is this scheme?

The MSME ZED Certification is a comprehensive rating system that evaluates a manufacturing unit based on two pillars: Zero Defect (focusing on quality and customer satisfaction) and Zero Effect (focusing on zero adverse environmental impact). It provides a roadmap for MSMEs to upgrade their manufacturing processes, reduce wastage, and achieve global standards through Bronze, Silver, and Gold certification levels.

Who is eligible?

• All MSMEs registered with the Udyam portal.
• The enterprise must be involved in manufacturing activities.
• The MSME must have a valid Udyam Registration Number.
• Open to Micro, Small, and Medium enterprises as defined by the MSME Act.

How much money?

The scheme provides up to 80% subsidy for Micro enterprises, 60% for Small enterprises, and 50% for Medium enterprises on certification costs. Additionally, there is a specialized subsidy for women/SC/ST owned MSMEs and those in NER/Himalayan/LWE regions as per latest notification, verify on official portal.
