The National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) is a prestigious central government initiative designed to provide financial assistance to meritorious students from economically weaker sections. Who is eligible?

• Students must be enrolled as full-time students in Class 9 in a Government, Government-aided, or Local Body school.
• A minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in Class 7 and 8 is required (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST).
• The annual parental income from all sources must not exceed INR 3,50,000.
• Students of NVS, KVS, Sainik schools, and private schools are not eligible for this scheme.
• To continue the scholarship in higher classes, the student must secure a minimum percentage as per latest notification, verify on official portal.

How much money?

The scholarship amount is INR 12,000 per annum (INR 1,000 per month) paid directly into the student's bank account via DBT.
