- For Lateral Entry: Must be pursuing a PhD in one of the PMRF granting institutions and have completed at least 12-24 months of the program depending on the entry degree.
- Candidates must have qualified GATE or a similar national-level examination if applying from non-CFTI backgrounds.

How much money?
The fellowship provides ₹70,000 per month for the first two years, ₹75,000 for the third year, and ₹80,000 per month for the fourth and fifth years. Additionally, a research grant of ₹2 Lakhs per year is provided for international travel and research expenses.
