What is this scheme?
The MSME Sustainable (ZED) Certification is a comprehensive roadmap to improve the manufacturing ecosystem in India. It focuses on two pillars: 'Zero Defect' (quality control to ensure zero rejected products) and 'Zero Effect' (manufacturing processes with zero adverse environmental impact). The scheme provides a framework for MSMEs to move through three levels—Bronze, Silver, and Gold—improving their operational efficiency at each stage.
Who is eligible?
- All MSMEs registered with the Udyam Registration Portal.
- Manufacturing enterprises across all sectors.
- Service sector units (as per the latest expanded guidelines).
- Enterprises must have a valid Udyam Registration Number (URN).
How much money?
The scheme offers up to 100% subsidy on certification costs. General MSMEs receive 80% (Bronze), 60% (Silver), and 50% (Gold) subsidy. However, MSMEs owned by Women/SC/ST entrepreneurs or those located in NER/Himalayas/LWE/Island territories receive an additional 10% to 20% subsidy, often reaching 100% for Bronze certification. Additionally, a one-time Handholding support of up to ₹5 Lakhs is available for Gold/Silver levels.

- Complete the Desktop Assessment (for Bronze) or Site Assessment (for Silver/Gold) by an accredited agency.
- Receive the ZED Certificate and the applicable subsidy directly into the bank account via DBT.
- Avail additional benefits like reduced interest rates from banks and preference in government procurement.
