The Zero Defect Zero Effect (ZED) scheme is a certification process that rates MSMEs on various parameters of quality, energy efficiency, and environmental sustainability. It categorizes units into Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels. The scheme aims to create a culture of continuous improvement in the MSME sector while ensuring that manufacturing processes do not harm the environment.
Who is eligible?
- All MSMEs registered with the Udyam Registration Portal.

How much money?
The Ministry offers up to 80% subsidy on the cost of certification for Micro enterprises, 60% for Small, and 50% for Medium enterprises. Additionally, there is a financial support of up to ₹5 Lakhs for handholding and consultancy, and a separate 'Wash' (Workplace Assessment for Safety and Hygiene) subsidy of up to ₹25,000.
