The AICTE Pragati Scholarship Scheme is a central government initiative implemented by the All India Council for Technical Education to empower young women through technical education. The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to meritorious girl students pursuing Degree or Diploma level courses in AICTE-approved institutions. Each year, up to 10,000 scholarships are awarded, with a specific focus on families with an annual income of less than 8 lakh rupees. The support is intended to cover tuition fees and other incidental expenses during the duration of the course. By incentivizing higher technical education for women, the government seeks to improve the gender ratio in engineering and technology fields across India, fostering skill development and economic independence among female students.
