The Ishan Uday Special Scholarship Scheme is a central initiative by the University Grants Commission (UGC) specifically designed to promote higher education among students from the North Eastern Region of India. Launched to bridge the educational gap and encourage professional aspirations, the scheme awards 10,000 fresh scholarships annually for general degree, technical, and professional courses. Selected candidates receive financial assistance directly into their bank accounts via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode. This scheme aims to enhance the Gross Enrolment Ratio in the North East while providing equal opportunities for students from economically weaker sections to pursue undergraduate studies in recognized universities and colleges across the country.
