The National Overseas Scholarship (NOS) is a central sector scheme implemented by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to provide financial assistance to selected students from Scheduled Castes, Denotified Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes, Landless Agricultural Labourers, and Traditional Artisans categories. The scheme supports students pursuing Master's level courses or Ph.D. degrees in accredited foreign universities. It aims to improve the economic and social status of marginalized communities by enabling them to acquire higher education abroad in diverse fields such as Engineering, Management, Medicine, Agricultural Sciences, and Humanities. The scholarship covers tuition fees, maintenance allowance, visa fees, airfare, and incidental expenses, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder meritorious students from seeking global academic exposure. For the current cycle, 125 slots are allotted annually, with specific reservations for female candidates and diverse categories.
